The 37th edition of the Goya Awards took place last Saturday, February 11, at the FIBES Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in Seville, reaping another resounding audience success by signing a 23.4% audience share and demonstrating once again the good moment that Spanish cinema is going through, both in the quality of its proposals and in the great reception received by the public.
After an edition without presenters, on this occasion it was decided to have two renowned national interpreters as masters of ceremonies: Clara Lago and Antonio de la Torre. In addition to announcing the winners of a new edition of the most important film awards in Spain, the gala was packed with musical performances such as those by Manuel Carrasco or Pablo López. As for the academics’ ruling, As Bestas, directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and co-written with Isabel Peña, was the great winner, receiving nine awards in total, among which were the Goya for best film, direction, original screenplay, leading actor for Denis Ménochet or supporting actor for Luiz Zahera.
