Understanding Fluge has become a necessary meeting for all professionals and enthusiasts of the audiovisual sector that year after year exceeds in attendance to its previous edition. In this V Fluge Audiovisuals Open House, Understanding Fluge 2021, the attendance figure reached more than 2,350 visitors in its three days of celebration. From November 23rd to 25th, a program full of exclusive presentations, demos and exhibitions, entertainment, live shows and lectures by acclaimed industry professionals such as Robb Allan, sound engineer of Massive Attack or Radiohead, was offered; Joe Pérez-Orive, marketing director of Live Nation Spain, Manuel Saucedo, CEO of Impulsa Eventos e Instalaciones, Julia Gómez Cora, CEO of Amapola Entertainment and Chairman of Podland, Jesús García, CEO of MKTG Spain, Raúl Respaldiza, general manager of Zertior or the internationally renowned electronic DJ Dj Nano, among many others.
This new audiovisual meeting was held in the brand new Plató Azúl and in the VIP Room of the Fluge Audiovisuales facilities in Arganda del Rey (Madrid). As every year, the spaces were equipped with the latest sound, lighting and video equipment, in addition to the implementation of new technologies, such as the mixed reality system.
In addition to hosting the presentations, the Blue Stage also deployed a multitude of stands, which showed the public the latest technical equipment from major manufacturers and distributors such as Santosom, Stonex, DAS Audio, Meyer Sound, Adam Hall, EARPRO, EES, Monacor Iberia, Triple Onda and Kinson. Moreover, the companies SeeSound, Stonex and Monacor Iberia gave the space several teams to successfully conduct open days. A stand was also installed with an interactive and immersive video game developed in virtual reality by R&D and new technologies department of Fluge Audiovisuales.
In this fifth edition of Understanding Fluge, as usual, the main activity of the event was the presentations, which could be followed both in person and online through Fluge Audiovisuales social networks. All of them were presented by Neil Solé, who also moderated the round tables on stage.
Present as speakers were Telmo Santos, CPO & Founder of Santosom and Sérgio Vieira, COO of Santosom who gave us their vision of the Flight Case; Luis López, sound and electronics technician, spoke about the benefits of the Axient ecosystem in broadcast environments; José Ignacio García Juncal, sales representative at Adam Hall Group, with his presentation of “Cameo towards 2022”; Antonio Azzato, creator and promoter of Velázquez Tech Museum, invited us to go through the production phases of the project; Manuel Saucedo and his talk on the future of event venue management; Robb Allan, who presented version 7 of AVID S6L and shared its advantages and improvements; Alejandro López told us why Triple Onda is so successful in innovation in audio systems; Silvia Montesinos joined us in this new edition of Understanding Fluge 2021 to talk about associate direction and residency in musical theater; Joe Pérez-Orive told us about a new scenario for live music; Pepo Perandones, in a talk together with Neil Solé, explained the “evolution of concert halls – From Rock-Ola to our days”; Vicent Olucha, systems engineer, gave a presentation on the new control and monitoring software of DAS Audio; Juan Carlos Pascual (Stonex SL), responsible for ETC products in Spain, and his presentation “RGBW – Color Thieves”; Julia Gomez Cora, CEO of Amapola Entertainment and Chairman of Podland, who explained with the enclosure to overflowing “The art of producing a musical”; Emilio Valenzuela, set designer and visual creative, from the hand of Trade Training, presented the projects in which he has participated in the “creation of content for projection and videomapping”; and Mateu Coll, head of training Meyer Sound Spain, told us about the immersive sound with Meyer Sound Spacemap Go.
Understanding Fluge 2021 also featured panel discussions moderated by Neil Solé such as “Sports events, present and future vision”, which featured Raúl Respaldiza, founder and CEO of Zertior, Pedro Amezúa, currently CEO and founding member of ZuaryGroup, Marco Antonio Ramos, co-founder of Enso Event Makers, and Jesús García, CEO of MKTG Spain/RPM-MKTG. “Digital strategy for artists (booking and management)” was another of the debates, with the participation of Brian Cross, Dj, producer and entrepreneur, director of electronic music at Live Nation Spain and Alejandro Montoya, Partner at Analog Agency, an agency of great international renown. The third round table brought together three architectural firms to address the interior architecture for the new leisure in Madrid by the architects and interior designers Ainara Arnaiz and Beatriz G. Boullosa of A&B Estudio; Jorge Lozano, Founder/Architect at Proyecto Singular and José Matallanas, senior interior architect at Proyecto Singular; Daniel Poch Selga, architect and interior designer founder of Dpoch Studio and Javier Pequeño, architect and interior designer of Dpoch Studio. Finally, Newlink presented the round table “Live Shopping, the user experience enhanced from new technologies”, where we had the presence of Patricia Ramos, Vice President Liveness & Events, Carlos O’Rian, founding partner of KMA Asset Management and Javier de Molina.
One of the highlights of this edition was the exclusive presentation of the “Ciudad de los Platós” in Arganda del Rey, a project to build 4 large sets, two of them over 2,000 square meters, making them the largest in Spain. Pedro Guillermo Hita Téllez, Mayor of Arganda del Rey, the architects Fernando de Mier and Consuelo López, Luis Parra (Discovery Estrategias Empresariales), David García (Lacrew Diseño y Producción) and Luis Berlanga (LouLadi).
One of the most applauded presentations, repeated during the three days, had Omar Mohamed, video programmer and head of R&D in the new technologies department of Fluge Audiovisuales, as the protagonist. Omar gave a demo of the innovative mixed reality or MR system, explaining the details of its operation and versatility, as well as the D3 system and Unreal Engine.
Understanding Fluge 2021 provided space for electronic music and live music, with such important figures as Dj Nano, who in a talk with Neil Solé, addressed his experience in 2020, when he started doing live on Instagram from his home until he ended the year with Oro Viejo, the chimes of hope, a milestone that marked a before and after in online events, going beyond at the level of audiovisual production, with an unprecedented technical deployment of lighting and sound. After the talk, both were at the controls of the Closing Party that closed the conference. In addition, the Chuco Boys and their garage/rock were in charge of closing the second day of the week.
In addition to the lectures given on the Blue Stage, Understanding Fluge 2021 offered courses for those with a broader technical background. They were held in the VIP Room of the facilities: Miguel Ángel Valera, Senior Sales and Brand Manager at Stonex, gave the courses “Introduction to MA3 v 1.6 software” and “Integration of GrandMA3 with GDTF and Vectorworks”; and “Sasi” García, product manager at SeeSound, gave a course in two time slots: “PROLIGHTS Presentation”.
