The Spanish capital welcomed the women’s soccer team with a party full of emotion and jubilation after their historic victory in the 2023 World Cup, held in Australia in August. The Puente del Rey, in Madrid Río, was filled with euphoria with the presence of more than 20,000 fans who eagerly awaited the champions, who shared the trophy with the entire country.

Marking a milestone in the history of women’s football in Spain, the team was acclaimed in a festive atmosphere, with the participation of artists such as Juan Magán, Vicco and Camela. The tunes of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” rang out loud, evoking the moment the players sang this iconic song during their return flight from Sydney.

Among the most emotional moments of the celebration, the intervention of Olga Carmona, scorer of the decisive goal in the final, stands out. Carmona gave a moving speech in honor of her father, who died shortly before the decisive game. The standing ovation and blanket she received from her teammates reflected the unity and support that characterizes this team. As for the national coach, Jorge Vilda, recognized all the player’s enormous work, even those who did not have the opportunity to participate in the championship but who were essential to the success of the team.

This triumph not only represents a sporting achievement, but also challenges stereotypes and is expected to change the perception of women’s sport in Spanish society, inspiring more young people to join the passion for soccer.
